Nepenthes tobaica

Pure or Hybrid: Pure Type: Highland - Grows between 3000 feet & 10,000 feet above sea level. They experience warm days, cool nights and continuous high humidity! Origin: North Sumatra Adult Pitcher: ? Lighting: Needs bright light, but not direct sun light. If kept in a greenhouse, it requires 50% shade cloth. Watering: Water from above and allow the excess to completely drain. Water daily in this method. Does not like to be kept in standing water! Comments: N. tobaica is a rapid grower of dis- turbed sites such as road embankments. It is similar and closely related to N. reinwardtiana but it is smaller in size and has non-decurrent leaf bases. The typical form's pitchers are pure green with two red ribs. Occasionally pitchers can be pure red or (rarely) black. This is one of the fastest growing highland species which makes it an excellent beginner's plant and is suitable for growing on sunny window sills as a houseplant. It is very adaptable to a variety of temps and may be cultivated in both warm and cool conditions. Where I got it: Malesiana Tropicals
