Nepenthes rajah
|
Pure or Hybrid: Pure
Type: Highland - Grows between 3000 feet &
10,000 feet above sea level. They
experience warm days, cool nights
and continuous high humidity!
Origin: Sabah, Borneo
Adult Pitcher: Near 10" tall.
Lighting: Needs bright light, but not direct
sun light. If kept in a greenhouse,
it requires 50% shade cloth.
Watering: Water from above and allow the excess
to drain into a tray. Water like this
when water is gone from the tray!
Comments: This is the "King" of the Nepenthes
species. It is thought to be the
largest pitchering plant in the world
but that is debatable. Its pitchers
have been found to hold up to four
quarts of digestive juice and its
pitchers have been found to contain
mice, rats and birds!
