Welcome to the beginning page for the baby umbrella cockatoo's that I raise. These birds are the large white parrots that have huge crests on top of their heads that is raised to a verticle position when the bird is excited, threatened or dis- playing for courtship. Umbrella cockatoos make one of the most adorable pets in the world. If properly taken care of they can live to 100 years or more (yes, that is human years) and can be trained to do tricks and mimic human speach. They are very, affectionate and playful and can provide a person or family with years of love and companionship. Besides mimicing human speach, in any language, they are great at learning to whistle, mimicing beeps from microwaves, rings from different telephones, a certain squeak in the door or your floor, cry like a new born baby, meow like a cat, bark like a dog and can even sound just like a car alarm.......and yes it is just as loud too! By no means are these birds quiet. They can be extremely LOUD, and they are not neat and tidy, they actually make a big mess when they decide to go on a rampage and throw their pellets, seed or fresh food out of their cage. The can also be extremely destructive. If you have nice or new furniture, say good-bye to it. These birds love to chew holes in walls, carpeting, couches, love seats, will remove trim off the door and are great at shreading curtains. If you cannot handle giving your house over to the real "ruler of the roost" then I do not suggest getting any type of large hookbill parrot like cockatoos or macaws! My prices include the bird, pet carrier and shipping via Delta Airlines. The cage is NOT included! Here is a pic of some chicks on the very first day out of their new cage. They were prev- iously in a smaller cage and couldn't quite figure out the new one for a couple of days. Here is a pic of Q-tip and Storm helping with the dishes. We couldn't quite figure out if they were helping or hindering! LOL
