We have done everything at Diversity to ensure that your new tattoo is done properly, correctly and as sterile as possible. Now everything is up to you!!!! Following these directions will ensure you have the best tattoo when it is healed; one that you'll be PROUD to show off! 1. If a bandage was placed on your tattoo, remove the bandage when you get home and do not place a bandage on it any more. 2. Gently wash the new tattoo with antibacterial soap and water once a day. It is recommended that you use the brand name Equate (you can get this at Wal-Mart for about 83 cents). All other brand names such as Dial, SoftSoap, Lever 2000, etc. have added colors and perfumes in them which can irritate the new tattoo. 3. Pat the tattoo dry with a new, clean paper towel. Do not rub it dry! Paper towels are best as re-used towels can carry germs and bacteria that could infect your new tattoo. 4. Apply a thin layer of Preparation H to the new tattoo several times daily to keep it moist. To do this, apply a small amount to your clean fingertip, gently rub it into the tattoo until the entire tattoo is covered, then take the palm of your hand and wipe off the excess. Do not keep a thick layer on the new tattoo as this blocks out the air which it needs to properly heal. Do not cover with a bandage or plastic wrap. DO NOT USE VASELINE!!!! 5. If a protective scab forms on any part of the new tattoo, DO NOT scratch or pick at it! If you do, it will pull out the color and this will void out your free touch-ups! During the healing phase, your tattoo may itch real bad. DO NOT scratch it, just slap it a few times with your hand instead. Do NOT put rubbing alcohol on it! 6. Do not expose the new tattoo to direct sunlight or a tanning bed for at least 30 days; 3 months is best! 7. Do not go swimming, and do not let the tattoo soak in a bathtub, Jacuzzi or sauna for at least 30 days. 8. It should be healed within 7 to 10 days after following these directions and will ensure good color and detail. 9. If your tattoo begins to turn red, swells up, begins burning, or develops little red bumps after you apply Preperation H, please come into Diversity as soon as possible so we can see it and give you an alternate method to help it heal properly! 10. If you have questions or wish to make an appointment, feel free to call us. DO NOT rely on information from your friends, family & other tattooists!!!! We know what we are doing so trust us, not them! We have been in business for nearly 11 years now so you can trust we know what we are & talking about!
