Neck & Above

(Ear Lobe, Ear Cartilage, Nostril, Septum, Eyebrow, Bridge, Madison)
To clean your piercing, choose an antibacterial soap which contains triclosan. I actually suggest using the brand name Equate. Many people are having reactions to Dial and Soft-Soap so I would not personally use these two. If you are sensitive to triclosan, try using Clearly Natural or NutriBiotic. While your piercing is soaking in the shower or tub, thoroughly wash your hands with the soap first and rinse well. If needed, use a clean Q-tip to help remove any crusted material on the jewelry, lather up your hands again and rub the soap all over your piercing and on the jewelry. Next, grab the jewelry and rotate it back and forth 6-7 times to get the soap inside the piercing hole. Allow it to remain in the piercing hole for about 30 seconds and then rinse the piercing & jewelry under the water, rotating it 12-14 times to make sure you get all the soap out. Clean your piercing like this for the first two weeks, 2 times a day; in the morning and at night. Afterwards if it is feeling good you can begin cleaning it once a day. When you are not cleaning the piercing, LEAVE IT ALONE AND DO NOT TOUCH IT!

The Oral Piercings

(Tongue, Labret, Cheek)
To clean your oral piercing, wash your hands thoroughly and tighten the balls. Once in the morning and once at night you need to rinse the piercing with Listerine mixed half and half with water; do not use any mouthwash full strength! Use it as you would any mouthwash but be a little more gentle while swishing it around. Rinse with this mixture for about 20 seconds then spit it out. During the rest of the day, after eating, smoking or putting anything in your mouth other than water, you will need to rinse your mouth with salt water. Use 1/2 teaspoon of table salt in one cup of water. Use this as a mouthwash to help keep the piercing clean and do this several times until the whole cup is gone. The rest of the time LEAVE IT ALONE AND DO NOT TOUCH IT OR PLAY WITH IT!
